Building the Building Blocks

Starting a new company is never easy; I wish I could say that BOOK-ie was an exception to the rule. It’s not. BOOK-ie hasn’t even launched yet and we’ve been hit with more obstacles than I care to mention.

The website, which looks clean and easy to navigate, has a very complex back end. We’ve strived to make things simple, but as we develop the business we realize how complex the company truly is.

Once we launch, BOOK-ie will have a certain trajectory, and we’ll be (somewhat) forced to travel the road we are on. If the road is too difficult to navigate, or if our goals prove to be unrealistically ambitious, the company will surely fail.

We don’t want to explode onto the scene, shine briefly and quickly fail; we want to begin our journey sure-footed and humble, then grow into something special.

There are quite a few companies that promote ebooks; the competition in this market is fierce.

We have come to the conclusion that BOOK-ie cannot be like any of the other companies. It’s not that we want to be different for the sake of being different. Truth is, what works for other companies will not work for us.

We have decided to push back the launch date, simplify the company’s service, modify the website, and re-approach BOOK-ie from a different angle… an angle we can call our own.

For those of you looking forward to our launch, sorry, but you’ll have to wait a little longer.

You only get one chance to launch a company.

We want to do it right.

Welcome to BOOK-ie

Welcome to BOOK-ie, and welcome to The BOOK-ie Blog. Let's start things rolling with a little question and answer period.

What is BOOK-ie?
BOOK-ie is a simple and free service that notifies readers about deep discounts and ebook giveaways. Selections are based on your preferences.

How can I join?
Joining couldn't be easier. Just tell us what types of books you like and where to send the information. We'll do the rest. Spent 15 seconds HERE and you'll be done. We don't even need to know your name.

What is The BOOK-ie Blog?
The BOOK-ie Blog is where we update our latest news. We we not be promoting books and authors here, unless they get mentioned in passing. Instead, we'll focus on the growth of our business and the steps we're taking to make the business succeed.

Who is running this show?
BOOK-ie was created by me… James Roy Daley. My first move was to partner up with one of the smartest people I know, Brad Mavin. As it stands, the two of us are running the show.

Should I trust you?
Damn straight. We're the good guys. We also know our way around the entertainment/publishing world. Brad is the co-founder of a paranormal television show called PROO(f), producer of The Strange and Astounding Show, the advertising director for Hauntopolis Magazine, and the man behind Mavin Media, which created our website. My list of credentials is a bit more simple: I run a publishing company called Books of the Dead Press. I also write books and make music.

Why did you create BOOK-ie?
As one of the first publishers to jump on board the ebook train, I've been able to see the ever-changing landscape within the e-publishing world from the start. I understand how the various developments within the industry influence sales and marketing. A couple of years ago I started to focus on marketing more seriously. From there I began helping other authors and publishers promote their products. BOOK-ie is an extension of what I've already been doing. Helping readers find the best deals while helping authors find new readers is what BOOK-ie is all about.

What goals do you have for BOOK-ie?
Our goal is simple, but huge: to connect thousands of authors with millions of readers.

I've signed up for BOOK-ie. When do the emails start coming?
Emails begin in 2015.
